Policies and Procedures

  • Students, volunteers, and educators may checkout or borrow books, magazines, and books-on-tape.

  • The student loan period is 1 week, but they may renew their selections unless another patron has requested an item.

  • Preschool and Kindergarten students are permitted to checkout 1 book each week.

  • First, Second, and Third graders are permitted up to 2 books per check out.

  • Students who wish to read more than 2 books per week are encouraged to visit the library frequently, return the books they have read and check out 2 more books. Overdue notices are sent out on a regular basis.

  • We do not collect fines for overdue books, but we do request payment for lost or unreturned books.

Policy on Damaged or Lost Books

Books are on loan and must be returned to the library.  Books that are damaged or not returned will need to be replaced.  The elementary library does not charge late fees.

Replacement options:

1.  Send money to pay for the cost of ordering a new book requested on the overdue notice.  Note that if you find the book after six months and want to return it for payment, the district will not reimburse you.

2.  Or you can replace the book by purchasing the exact title and edition of the book.
